There's no doubt that the country is in a sporting dip. Just like the slump between Christmas and New Year's Eve, we're in that uncomfortable period between the Olympics and Paralympics that has left us with no reason to stay up all night watching the television and using awful Olympic-themed puns in our work emails.

Don't Tell Me the Score is a BBC podcast series, in which presenter Simon Mundie has conversations with a variety of experts in their field about what lessons sport can teach us about the world.
