On Saturday 16th May Pathfinder member Stonepillow challenged people to change their comfy bed to somewhere different for just one night. This was in support of the many homeless and vulnerable people who are sofa surfing or rough sleeping, and not sleeping in the same place each night.
With social distancing measures in place the charity’s annual ‘Big Sleep Out’ was unable to go ahead, and was replaced with the ‘Little Big Sleep Out at Home’. The initiative offered the local community an online fun event that anyone could get involved with. They were delighted that over 550 people took part in the challenge putting the ‘fun’ into fundraising with people sleeping in trikes, wheelbarrows, on trampolines and snooker tables, in sheds and summerhouses and even a double decker bus!
So far, Stonepillow has raised an incredible £17,000 with donations still coming in! Since Saturday they have been receiving photos of sleepouts under the stars to under the stairs, and lovely messages from supporters. They are truly grateful for the generosity of the community, and to everyone who embraced the challenge by taking part.
