Offering: Peer-led groups, workshops, training, in-patient peer support, volunteering opportunities and community groups
CAPITAL is an independent organisation, led by and for people who have lived experience of mental distress or using mental health services.
26 years ago, West Sussex mental health services didn’t have an understanding of our experience as users of local services, or as people with lived experience of mental health issues, so CAPITAL formed to try to help change that.
Through discussions, feedback and planning meetings, we worked through ideas with professionals to improve things, together, and we became Clients And Professionals In Training And Learning – the local voice of people with lived experience.
We are open to anyone over the age of 18, who is using mental health services in West Sussex or identifies with having lived experience of mental health issues. Becoming a CAPITAL member is free.
We aim to strengthen our independence, work with new partners, grow our membership and develop our peer-led support – in communities, hospitals, through a county peer network and in services.
Areas covered: All areas within West Sussex, including (but not limited to) Adur, Bognor, Burgess Hill, Chichester, Crawley, East Grinstead, Haywards Heath, Horsham, Littlehampton, Midhurst, Southwick, Worthing.
